Hello! I’m Jo
Qualified Integrative Counsellor, MBACP
I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society. (MNCS).
I work within the Ethical Framework of the BACP and provide a safe, trusting and non-judgemental environment for you to explore your difficult thoughts and feelings.
As an Integrative Counsellor I work in a flexible and creative approach to counselling. The most important thing being the relationship we build in the counselling sessions. My approach is to empower you and help you make sense of what is going on and assist you in finding out what helps you to cope and have a better life.
I draw on many different theories and psychotherapy approaches depending on your needs, these include creative work, attachment theory, Gestalt, transaction analysis and CBT.
Training & Qualifications
I have a Diploma in therapeutic counselling and have had long-term counselling as part of my training, this enabled me to become more self-aware and also to experience what it is like to be the client in a counselling relationship.
I have had extensive training in bereavement counselling, including infant loss and I have accumulated over 200 client hours at a local hospice, covering suicide, multiple losses, miscarriage and death of a parent, partner, sibling, friend and child.
My experience has also included being a counsellor in an agency offering support for depression, anxiety, anger, stress, abuse, low self-esteem, sexuality and relationship issues.
I have particularly specialised in Loss, including, redundancy, divorce, separation, job loss, relationship issues and work-place bullying.
Before I qualified as a counsellor, I held a senior management position in FMCG industry, my role covered coaching, mentoring and training and I hold a Masters degree in Business administration. This valuable and varied life experience has helped me become the person I am, I believe our experiences shape who we are and how we function in the world, right from childhood.

“Jo has been working with me for a few weeks now and I am finding it very helpful. She helps me to think clearly about how my bereavements have affected me. I look forward to our sessions very much. I feel able to say things to her that I would not be able to say to my family and friends and this frees me up to say exactly how I feel”.
"Jo is very calming and understanding, and makes you feel at ease when talking to her. She introduced me to drawing as therapy which has helped me immensely. I would recommend her to anyone"
“From my very first session I felt totally at ease and comfortable with Jo. Her communicational and observational skills were excellent. Whilst always professional she could empathise with situations, show compassion and ask pertinent questions to help me try to work through my thoughts and feelings. I have benefitted greatly from the counselling sessions with Jo.”
